Fifth Annual FB Historic District Walking Tour – A Crowd Pleaser

More than 25 people joined our sold-out walking tour of the Foggy Bottom Historic District on a beautiful Saturday, September 20, 1025. Since 2021, the FBA’s Foggy Bottom History Project Co-Chairs Frank Leone and Denise Vogt have led an hour and half tour through the Historic District. The group stayed close together as we walked along the shady tree-lined sidewalks and shared the story of what made the Foggy Bottom neighborhood important in DC’s history. The four-block Historic District tour showcases our 19th century working class neighborhood, featuring 130-year-old brick alley dwellings, and streets lined with 12'-wide distinctive rowhouses. This year, we included information uncovered by recent GWU student interns about the area’s history, its residents, how it changed over time, what remains, and what was lost.

As a bonus, attendees were treated to views of many of the  2025 biennial Arts in Foggy Bottom exhibits, featuring original creations by 14 artists, including the Casa de Benito and its rhinoceros, and our flowering curb gardens. We also provided information about the benefits of FBA membership and the mission of  FBWE Mainstreet.

The Historic Foggy Bottom - Rowhouses, Alleys, Residents, and Art Tour was one of over 70 EventsDC Walkingtown Tours that spanned eight days across the eight wards. The tours provide an excellent opportunity for both residents and visitors to explore the city’s hidden gems and learn more about the capital’s past, present and future.

If you missed this tour all is not lost.  Our on-line history and arts walking tours are available anytime you are.  Find out more at our website’s walking tours page!
