2429 I STREET NW
Year Built
1885
History
The two- story green brick house at No. 2429, was built for John Scanlon in 1885 and features a large projecting chamfered square bay, as well as interesting molded brick work over the windows and at the cornice. Segmental arches over windows and doors are in a ball motif. Plain string courses wrap around building below first and second story windows (similar to Peter McCartney's work). (EHT Traceries)
Twenty-five years later, Scanlon's son Daniel, an electrician for the Potomac Electric Company , owned it, living there with his wife and six children. (A. Hoagland)
